So today was really special; after a long season of hoping to spend time with my amazing, talented sister Kloe and being unable to (she is in college, and doing a model job at paying for it by working at the same time, so…yeah; busy!)…we spent time together!
When I say baking, all I can say is; wow. She is so good at it! Since it’s an interest that we share, we spent a good two or three hours having a blast together!
One of the things about family life that is healthy beyond measure…is spending quality time bonding together in positive, life activities. This is especially doable and awesome when you have shared interests π
W-ell…my sister Kloe and I share a HUGE love for cooking/ baking. Growing up, we were both on different schedules that did not match. And I regret that. But, now that I am married and able to work from home, and she has a part time job and finishing school for the summer, praise God I can develop a great relationship with my now grown up (no longer little!) sister π
while engaging in shared interests. Kloe and I both absolutely love cooking….and I think we will get together soon and make zoodles together, too. At that point in time, I will for sure have to also post about that.
We set out to make a yellow log cake (or roll up), with strawberries and whipped cream on the top. She whipped out an amazing recipe for it…and off we went!
Kloe had a really neat recipe for yellow cake to go in the cake. Do you know what I’m talking about? It’s kind of like the picture within the picture…or, the cake within the cake. Anyway…no way was she gonna use any ole’ store bought cake mix, even if it was for the cake mix just to stir into the recipe! We stood there for quite some time…dicing up butter. Wow, was that stuff sticky and oily! And wow; did it make that mix smell divine!
All I have to say, is she knew how to make that thing taste amazing…and after adding a few things…sugar, egg whites, vanilla, all that stuff, we had a batch ready to go!
I think the idea was to put it on a cookie sheet, which we did not do. That said, it came out a full, thick cake because we used a casserole dish. But, hey! We decided to cut it half (really- I think that was my favorite part!), and then smother that puppy in cool whip. Then came the second layer, more cool whip…
And just you wait to see how awesome she got to decorate it after I had to leave for a client…
We frosted it with the cream. So that I can claim assistance for credit π But the strawberry decoration…was all Miss Kloe’s doing.
Artistic, eh?
Anyways…that’s my post about spending quality time in the kitchen with a sibling to develop more of a strong bond. And I am SO glad we had that chance. I pray for more awesome times like that with her.
Let me hear from you! When did you recently spend time with a sibling/ cousin/ niece nephew around positive healthy relationship building activities?
God bless, and hope you and your family are doing great!

Btw…Kloe’s blog is kloeskitchen.wordpress.com. Stop by; she’s got amazing food on there!
Hi! Welcome to my blog.
I am Kelsie D., and I am passionate about any and everything family oriented.
Let's see; a few things about me that may or may not interest you...
For starters, I love Jesus and believe that the Holy Spirit is alive, and working and moving today! That is the driving force behind my passions, beliefs, and life goals.
I'm a conservative Christian; I don't watch, listen to, or do the things that would define most of today's culture. But you will find me both speaking in tongues while wearing some make up, a feminine shirt, and jeans.
I am a 'newly wed' as of January 27th, 2018, to a wonderful man of God. I know a lot of people say that couples start arguing and not getting along after you do 'real' life with your spouse for a bit. Still hasn't happened...and we intend that it never will! :)
We decorate everything in blue (our mutually favorite color).
I am the oldest of ten siblings, and want to be close to all of them and my parents until Jesus comes back.
I am a Life and Health Coach, and am blessed with a job that allows me to utilize that certification, and my Bachelor's degree in family life education.
I love writing novels, short stories, and movie scripts for fun. I really enjoy cooking and finding flavorful new healthy recipes (especially ones that taste anything like cheese and alfredo...yum!). I love music, family- oriented movies, doing dollhouse crafts with my husband, and visiting with others that love Jesus, too.
As for the point of this blog...
Living for Jesus in a day and age where we're watching evil multiply in force and darkness (Jesus said it would!), I see a lot of young, downcast faces surrounding me.
You see, contrary to many opinions or 'statistics' flying around out there, there actually are those of us young Christians that DO want a good, healthy, Christ- oriented family of our own in the future. Even if we're married, we want a community we can plug into that encourages us in the walk of purity, hope, salvation, and light. Most young people today express loneliness that there just does not seem to be others that feel the way that we do.
I remember the 'moment' that this clicked for me the clearest.
A couple years before I met my husband in the South, I moved with my family from a northern to a southern state....and you know what? I found, that in both the North and the South alike, the young people who truly love Jesus feel about the same. To specify; they feel that there is no one in this generation that wants to stand up for Jesus or family, or live with either at their center.
They feel isolated.
And who can blame them? They are quietly living the life that Jesus called us to...and not seeing much of any companionship along the way.
My hope in creating this blog?
To connect these people! That's right....you!
Check out the different categories, and express your own opinion- keep it Christ and family oriented, please.
Meet some new people you don't know, and who knows? Maybe through this weird internet blog, you'll find out that there's another Christian with similar heart and interests to you, who's lived fifteen minutes from you since you were three months old! :)
God bless!
